Happy 1st month

Hey guys, I've been absolutely busy with life that I've not provided myself enough time to blog!

On Monday, it had officially hit 1 month since I had started my fitness regime!

How is it going? What happened?

Right, I'll be real and honest!

IT'S NOT A JOKE!!!

But it is really really fun, I'm truly enjoying myself and I keep pushing myself.

So in March, the first few days I started off by going swimming. I would swim twice a week. It had been a long time since I had went, but I normally operate with a confident drug (my ego)! So I thought I'm good at swimming it'll be minor. Excuse me! Just after swimming 25m I was out of breath, my heart felt like it was going to explode, my legs were burning.... I thought it was the end of my life.. I had a titanic moment. (No I did not drown) I was standing there hyperventilating after swimming 25m (which is 1 length of the pool). I secretly thought to myself this is not my portion, Yesu!

So we all know I'm unfit, terrible I know! This here helped confirm it even more! Nonetheless I did not give up I swam and swam, after about 45mins I broke past my threshold and I could easily swim 75m non-stop without resting. This was my 1st day.

The very blessed next day I went again determine to swim 100m straight non-stop... It was a myth! Haaahaa but I tried! *wiggles* I realised that I needed to work on some breathing techniques. So I used that session to find suitable techniques and find my favourite stroke.

It got better, I could do 100m straight non-stop with breaststroke (favourite stroke). So I spent about 1hr 15-20mins in the pool. When I got out of the pool I sat in changing rooms for about 15-20mins. I had literally forgotten how to stand up! I was weak, tired my legs had not worked like that in years!

This is when it started to get fun, I had completely broken past that threshold, my heart felt like it had expanded. Even when I would walk around, my breathing was a lot smoother and I could take in much more air! Trust me it's a good feeling.

I also started going gym, I recruited my older brother and we go together! He is my best friend we get along sooooo well and there's no one I would love to do my journey with than my bro, love that guy soo much. He works me hard at the gym or at home and we both have a competitive spirit so that challenge is there! Plus he always makes me my protein shake pre-workout and post-workout.

The 1st day at the gym I thought I'm a soldier, 10min run on the treadmill started at 7.1kph speed. After 1min, just 1holy minute I wanted to stop and just jump off! My heart! Yesu! My lungs had given up on me. I won't lie it was hard. So I turn around to look at my brother, seeking sympathy.. His saw the look and said, "you're feeling it, right?" And I nodd, "good 9 more minutes" and he laughed! That's tough love! Well I completed my 10mins I couldn't walk but I had to break my 2mins threshold. When you go past that burning feeling it gets easier. You just need to face and overcome those mountains.

Currently I'm at the gym about 3times a week I still do my 10mins treadmill warm-up session but now I run at 9.3kph for 9minutes and the last minute at 12.4kph just to push myself. I can now run 3.8k on the treadmill in 10mins.

There's been great improvements but I'm facing all the challenges and breaking all these temporary thresholds.

Now I'm currently working on my legs and lower back. Leg press started at 15kg now 50kg, the lowest weights on machines I do on my legs is 45kg. So I'm gradually getting there! This month of April it's all upper body and core work out!

Train Hard Eat Clean

One thing I've found difficult is healthy eating at work but I've been trying! I work 6days a week and I used to snack and snack all the time. So I'm trying to change that! My weakness is biscuits! I haven't had chocolate or sweets all month! Well on Easter Monday mum gave me kitkat!

Wheat flour tortilla wrap with grilled chicken, chopped bananas and avocado.

Wheat flour roll, chicken, strawberries, pineapples and apples

Wholemeal bread, baby spinach, boiled egg and tomato

Its a lot more easier at home because my mum is a fruit, veg and fish freak!! This tends to be my breakfast, oats porridge made with almond milk, wholemeal bread, boiled eggs and cucumber and diced avocado. Pre or post work-out. Obviously not the same food everyday I mix it up!

Unfortunately I'm not one of those people that take much pictures of food, I start to eat it even before I put most of it on the plate. (Not ashamed)

Furthermore I've realised that I'm not as flexible as I used to be. I can't even do the splits anymore *jumps of bridge* so I've been trying my best to stretch everyday. I don't go 2days without stretching. I stretch a minimum of an hour before gym and on home days I can spend 2hrs+ all bendy and stretchy! I'm so excited trying out African yoga... Well yoga is yoga! It's helping! I think I need to start taking some pics!

I've also lost much upper body and core (mid-body- abs, lower back etc) strength. When I used to dance I could do head/handstands with ease and other freezes/poses etc I can't even carry my own weight! How embarrassing and I'm a feather-weight. Not very fussed because I'll get it back!!

That's pretty much it! It's been really challenging discovering and experiencing theses changes. From being at a point where your body literally send signals to your mind that it can't take no more and your mind convinces your body to push, to just hold on a little longer. Within a blink of an eye it just gets better, you feel lighter and feel so good. But above all you feel stronger! We need to tap into our mental and spiritual strength more regularly because our minds and spirits can perceive beyond the impossible and take us places we never deemed possible. IF YOU GIVE IT A CHANCE. Our flesh is weak, the body gets weary but whatever content you place in yourself is what will keep you pushing on towards that glorious crown. Set goals targets and don't just hit them smash them, for the feeling of achievement is like no other.

For those who have started their journeys how is it going?

I'm still learning so any advice for moi.. Send them my way!

Ciao!!

Born a legend, to leave a legacy.

Credit Cards: Yes or A NO-NO?

One thing that you need to understand about the world we live in is that, it runs on debt. We live in a debt fuelled society. From the countries borrowing and owing money to central banks and presidents who put their countries in debit with other countries. Which then fuels down to local banks with credit cards, loans and even store cards. We have been immersed into the life of buy now pay later and we are trained to think that it is ok! We are not afraid anymore of not having money anymore. We can buy all we want now and pay it back later despite the fact that we can actually be paying more than the initial price. However, some people still fear credit cards as though it's the pikin of the devil! Lol Surely there must be a way around this system right? Can we actually use this debt thing to actually work in our favour? There's always a loophole somewhere, can credit cards actually work in our favour? Yes, they can as long as you use it wisely.
